Bradley Clayton King died from a heart attack and COPD complications on February 2nd, 2026 at his apartment in Coney Island. He was 67 years old. He was born March 27, 1958 in Alexandria, Virginia. He was a graduate of the Selwyn Boarding School in Denton, Texas.

Bradley was a helpful, funny person who had a wickedly sharp sense of humor and intelligence.

His claim to fame was a stint as a dancing Aggie football player in the Broadway hit production of “The Best Little Whorehouse in Texas” at the 46th Street Theater in 1978. From 1979-1981 he was the band leader and guitarist for the Tally Wacker stage band in the National Broadway Touring production of “Whorehouse.” His father, writer and playwright Larry L. King, wrote the book for the Broadway hit.

Bradley was a talented musician, a history scholar, a bibliophile, a great story teller and a devoted cat daddy. He had a love hate relationship with his Dallas Cowboy football team.

His love of books led to a book seller career (among other adventures) and he retired from the City University of New York bookstores in 2022.

He was preceded in death by his father Larry L. King, his mother Jeanie King, and his sister Kerri Mitchell.

He is survived by his sister Alix King, his long time friend Ann Jordan, his sister-in-law Jenn Germack, and half-sister Lindsay Arnoult, half-brother Blaine King.

He was well loved and will be sorely missed. In lieu of a memorial or flowers Bradley would encourage you to make a donation in his name to your local animal shelter.
